Journey Of The Seed - Catch The Bible's Big Picture In 60 Days

DAY 46 OF 60

THE SEED IS GOD

[Scheduled Reading: John 1-7]

For us Bible readers, another gospel account means another perspective of The Seed.

While the gospel accounts of Matthew and Luke present the genealogies of Joseph and Mary, John focuses on Jesus’ deity.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:1-2, 14)

Sounds like a tongue twister, doesn’t it?

Jesus is God. The SEED is God.

It’s a mind-boggling idea. The trinity is not easy to grasp. It’s what makes the Christian faith so unique.

John summarizes the full gospel message right away.

But to all… who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (v12).

This is a working premise throughout the book of John. Those who believe in this SEED, Christ Jesus, can become children of God and have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (v3:16).

And how exactly did God give Jesus to the world?

As a sacrifice.

This leads us to another significant description of Jesus. Jesus is the Passover Lamb.

“Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (1:28).

The SEED is God. And The SEED is a Lamb.

Hang on to this thought. This will have special meaning for us in the days ahead.
