Foundation
Makeup professionals will tell you the most important part of your makeup routine should be your foundation. It’s the layer of makeup that all your other makeup is built upon. It evens out your complexion and helps your other makeup stay in place. You probably won’t get complimented on your foundation as you would your lipstick or eyeliner; sadly, there’s just nothing flashy about it. As a matter of fact, if your foundation is done right, it shouldn’t be noticeable at all. But without it, the rest of your makeup simply will not last.
BEAUTY INSIDER TIP: Jesus is the foundation, and we are the church.
1 Corinthians 3:11 makes it clear that Jesus is our foundation. He is the Rock, the Chief Cornerstone, and if we build our lives upon him, we will not be shaken. His completed work on the cross is the foundation of our salvation. King David said, “I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And He heard my cry. He also brought me up … Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps” (Psalm 40:1–2 NKJV).
I don’t know where you were when Jesus found you; I can only speak for myself. I was in the miry clay of this world. As sad as it sounds, I loved the world and everything about it. I had made myself fit right in, yet I knew in my heart it wasn’t where I belonged. I still went to church because that’s what I was raised to do, but my heart was far from God. One day, over twenty years ago now, I cried out to the Lord. He heard my cry and lifted me out of the mire of this world. He placed my feet upon the solid rock, and I have been firm footed ever since.
With Jesus as our foundation, we can stand through anything. No matter what the enemy brings our way, if we stay firm footed on the Word of God, he will not prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
