Rest For The Restlessনমুনা
REST FROM EVERYDAY TRIALS
All of us carry a lot of burdens. Some carry a burden of sickness. Still others carry the burden of work pressure. Some children experience the burden of rigorous studies. Many parents experience stress while raising children. Some go through financial problems, while others face emotional stress and anxiety. The Bible is clear that we will go through trials in this world. In fact, Jesus says that “in the world you will have tribulation” (John 16:33). Similarly, Peter tells his readers: “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you” (1 Peter 4:12).
Job reminds us that “man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble” (Job 14:1)! That includes all of us. Writing to the Corinthians, Paul says, “For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened” (2 Corinthians 5:4). As long as we live on this earth, we will have to carry several burdens. But there is good news! Jesus’ promise in Matthew 11:28 applies to the everyday trials as well. Jesus offers us rest as we carry our burdens on this earth. That’s why, Apostle Peter encourages us to “cast all your anxiety on him [Jesus] because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7). We need not carry our burdens because Jesus is willing to take all our burdens upon himself. When we cast all our cares on him, he will give us tremendous peace even in the midst of trials (John 16:33; Philippians 4:6-7). There is a rest in coming to Jesus. When he promises something, he will make sure that he fulfills it.
Today, come to Jesus and receive rest. There is no rest in sin, no rest in possessions, no rest in fame, no rest in people, no rest in alcohol, and no rest in drugs. True rest is found in Christ alone! Millions of people all over the world experience the rest that Jesus offers. You too can experience his rest from everyday trials.
