iHunger: A Closer Walk with Godনমুনা
Overcoming Fear
Fear of heights, insects, loneliness......change......success......rejection.......failure. Fear is natural. Every human will experience fear; however, experiencing a moment of fear and operating in a spirit of fear are two very different things! The enemy uses fear to disturb the state of contentment in which God created us to live. Second Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear...
The enemy uses the spirit of fear as a tactic to cripple believers and bring about stagnation. But, when fear comes knocking at our doors, we need only to allow faith to answer. Faith and trust in God dispels fear as we realize He is greater than our situation. We can overcome fear as we meditate on the Word. We can glean from David's example. He declares “...I'm not afraid when you walk at my side” (Ps 23:4 MSG). Like David, you don't have to be afraid; just remember He's right there with you every step of the way.
Dave Morris, a football player, victoriously ended a very crucial game and went on to prepare for one of the biggest games of his life. A local reporter approached him and said, “That was a great win! You played a phenomenal game....But do you fear playing the Bobcats in the championship game?” He looks around the locker room. The reporter's taken aback says, “Dave?” as if he did not hear the question. Dave locks his eyes on one of his fellow players. He points and says, “Do you see that great big tall undefeated player in the corner of the locker room? With confusion the reporter responded, “Yes.” Dave smiled and confidently said.....“He's on my side.”
Today, live fearlessly assured that the undefeated One is on your side!
Today's Declaration I am too positive to be doubtful, too determined to be defeated, too optimistic to be fearful. I am determined to invest my time in things that are eternal, things that are progressive, and things that are true. I will not live my life in fear because the Lord is always with me.
