Peter writes that if Christians have the spiritual qualities listed in verses 5-7, they will produce spiritual fruit. If the Christian’s life is not changing and they are not growing, they may have forgotten the work of Jesus on the Cross. The cure to barrenness and unfruitfulness, Peter states, is the knowledge of God. Reading and meditating on God’s Word helps Christians to grow more intimate with God and in turn, they begin to reflect the characteristics of God.
