God’s aim, which He works in and through our lives, is His own glory. God doesn’t force His glory upon us. Through His work in our lives, He simply reveals the glory He already has. In other words, God’s glory is our happiness, and to the degree that we fixate on Him instead of on how we feel, we will come to know firsthand how true this is. 

Trusting in the Lord frees us from the kind of self-analysis that rises no higher than our emotions and desires, and it guides us to participate in the kind of analysis that leads to fruitful living because it is governed by God’s Word and aided by the Holy Spirit.
