King David For Youনমুনা
The promise is coming
Have you ever felt forgotten? Have you ever felt unimportant or overlooked? Have you been ignored because of your age?
This was exactly how David felt. David was a shepherd boy and the youngest out of all of his brothers. Every day, he was sent to work out in the field with his sheep and goats but was often alone for hours and forgotten about. His own father didn’t even remember him!
There was something different about David, though. He had a pure heart that was pleasing in the eyes of God. Even though he wasn’t known by a lot of people, and ignored by his family, he was known by his Heavenly Father.
When it was time to appoint a new king of Israel, the Lord told Samuel to find a man named Jesse in Bethlehem because he had chosen one of his sons to become king. When Samuel arrived in Bethlehem, he scouted Jesse’s sons, but the Lord had not chosen any of them. The Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Samuel was confused and asked Jesse if he had any other sons. Then Jesse remembered the youngest of all his sons, David, and called for him. He was dark and handsome, with beautiful eyes. When David walked in, the Lord said, “This is the one; anoint him.”
You see, it wasn’t David’s good looks or great personality that made him king of Israel, it was how much he loved God. His heart was what found him favor with God.
To the world, you may seem unimportant and unworthy, but God sees you as royalty!
