Love God, Lose Weight - Christmas Devotionনমুনা
Transcendent Peace
Devotion
One of the most powerful gifts we can manifest is transcendent peace.
This world is anything but peaceful, yet God calls us to be children of peace amid all of the daily chaos. How is this possible? Because we serve a living God who loves us with an everlasting love and who offers us peace in the midst of any situation or circumstance. We serve a God who stands in the gap for us and promises to fight for us when necessary.
- No, we're not happy with our weight.
- Yes, we continually eat outside of our boundaries.
- No, we do not have the willpower to stop ourselves from eating the things we don't want to eat.
Despite all of these things that threaten to steal our peace, we can still find rest and peace in our heavenly Father.
God loves us so much and offers to take our heavy burdens so that we can experience His gift of transcendent peace.
As you maneuver through the highs and lows of the holiday season, may you discover the heart of your heavenly Father to bring you peace each day.
Reflect
"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you." Is. 26:3 ESV
"For God is not a God of confusion but of peace." 1 Cor. 14:33 ESV
1. The dictionary defines transcendent as 'beyond or above the range of normal or merely physical human experience.' Think about the level of peace that is available to us.
2. What is stealing your peace? Offer it all up to God and allow Him to exchange your worries for His gift of peace.
3. Think about the lack of peace that accompanies your health journey, especially at this time of the year. Visualize yourself laying it all at His feet.
Love Challenge
Find at least 15 minutes today to stop and experience God's peace. Light a candle, read a book, play some music, do something to cultivate a spirit of peace in your life.
Worship and Prayer
"Dear Jesus, Thank you for leaving me the precious gift of your peace. You have given me an unshifting rock to stand on when the waters get rough, an anchor in every storm, shelter, and protection from every evil. You have left me promises of your unfailing love—You comfort me; You say that I am the apple of Your eye; You work all things together for my good, and You promise never to leave me. I admit that I can still feel alone at times. I confess today that I cannot bring myself peace and that I desperately need it. So I'm coming today, praising you for your goodness and love and asking you for the gift of your peace to fill my heart. Thank you, Jesus. Amen."
