Grace For Your Waist-Living A Lifestyle Fitted With Hopeনমুনা
Perfect Fitted Courage
For 13 years I worked full-time as a DJ and Promotions Director at a Christian Radio station. I loved my job and was surprised when I felt the Lord calling me to resign from my position. To step away from the financial security and to pursue my dream to write was scary, to say the least. “Did I hear right, Lord?” How could God use me now after leaving the studio limelight?
Soon after I took this step of obedience, I heard a message on the brave story of Peter stepping out of the boat and walking on water. Hearing it again made me think about Peter’s rock solid faith. Peter’s courage, exhibited in a moment of fear, moved me.
You see, for years I carried on strong (both professionally and personally) like my extra weight didn’t bother me. Many times I watched others go head first into their dreams. Yet I lacked the courage to follow suit because of my weight. I shrunk back in fear and doubt. After all, I didn’t have a college degree in nutrition or a strong pedigree in fitness. I wasn’t proficient in grammar or proper English. And I took many scenic routes and detours towards my weight goals. But when I felt the nudge from God that day, I heard His invitation to simply “come.” I had to step out of my boat to discover all the Lord had planned for the next chapter of my life, just the way I was.
God doesn’t need your abilities, He desires your availability.
He has plans for your life in ways you can’t see until you step out of your own boat and trust Him. Now I’m not saying you should quit your day job. But …God has bigger plans based on your willingness to be open and vulnerable to Him. Rest assured from God’s perspective that He never disqualifies the called; He equips them. You only need faith in action, and He blesses your faithfulness with fruitfulness. Believe the ideas in your heart; after all, God put them there. All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and trust in God. And you’ll receive His grace to take a step out—to find out for yourself.
How can you step out in faith?
