Perspective In The Valley

DAY 4 OF 5

The Most Good

God wants good for us. That may seem obvious. And we know it, or claim to know it, in our heads. But do we really believe Him? Can we truly take Him at His Word?

God is like a good parent, denying us things we don’t really need. As children, we can throw a tantrum when we don’t get what we want. We make the tragic mistake of equating what we want with what is good for us. God wants more for us than we want for ourselves. He knows us better. He cares for us more deeply. He wants the best for us. He loves us more than any other human-being can possibly love us. He is a good good Father.

Just like a good parent, God is not punishing us or withholding for His own amusement or to display His power oppressively. The Lord does what He does and allows what He allows only because He wants the very best for us.

Let’s trust in the word that Paul tells us in the book of Romans: “We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”

If we want to develop a truer and godly perspective, we need to be able to trust God’s intentions for our goodness. We need to accept that His ways are not our ways. The Word of God says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” As difficult and frustrating as it can be, His ways are not just best but are also best for us. Let’s trust and grab on to this truth.

About this Plan

Perspective In The Valley

We think of perspective as a way we view the world, something simple and easy that can be adjusted. But perspective is the choice we make about what we accept as true. Through this plan we will learn how to live with a truer perspective, including self-perception, worship, and perceiving who the good Father God is, as we are in walking in the valley.
