30/30 Challenge Reading Plan

DAY 8 OF 30

Stability is a wonderful thing! It makes a person peaceful, dependable, and productive. It keeps us from being on an emotional roller coaster—happy one minute, frustrated the next—based on the circumstances around us. It’s comforting to be around stable people—people who are firmly rooted in God’s love. Because the world around us is ever changing and unstable in many ways.

Psalm 1:3 shows us how we find stability through studying God’s Word. It says the person who follows God’s ways is “like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water.” This means the key to being stable in God’s love is to focus on your relationship with Him rather than continually trying to make your circumstances be what you want them to be. The truth is, God is more interested in changing us than He is in changing our circumstances. And Philippians 4:11 (AMP) says we can learn “how to be content (satisfied to the point where [we are] not disturbed or disquieted)“ whatever our condition is. Through Christ, we can get to the point where we are stable and peaceful, no matter what our situation may be.

Psalm 91:1 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]” (AMP). This amazing scripture gives us the promise of stability as we spend time in God’s presence.

Walk It Out

Two of the best ways to become more firmly planted in God’s love are…

  • Spend time with Him, studying the Word.
  • Spend time with people who are good examples of peace and stability.

If you want to become a more stable person mentally and emotionally, look up scriptures that reveal God’s unchanging character and then pray for Him to help you develop more godly characteristics. Psalms and Proverbs are good places to start. And Galatians 5:22-23 reveal the fruit of the Spirit, which help us understand what it means to be like Christ.
