Declutter Now! 30 Day Devotional

DAY 27 OF 30

God Space

Do you have space in your life for God? Room for him to be with you? Time to hear his whisper and feel his care?

Do you have wiggle room, margins, in your day to spend with God?

When you don’t feel close to God, remember, HE isn’t the one who moved away.

Admittedly, life can be overwhelming. There are more tasks to do than minutes in a day, and there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight. We’re pulled in a million different directions all at once and we feel obligated to say ‘yes’ to more things than we should. Passing up an opportunity to help feels un-Christian. We strive to be everything to everyone, except, sadly, God.

Fatal last words, “If I can just get this checked off my list, I’ll have more time after." "If I just work overtime for a few months, we’ll be set.” “One last project and then I promise to take a break.” We all know the truth. It just doesn’t happen that way. Those ‘solutions’ are no solutions at all and only lead to disappointment and frustration. Something seemingly more important is always waiting, just behind your task at hand, to take its spot.

To spend time with God you have to make time for God by intentionally setting aside space to commune with Him, regardless of what’s going on in your life. He craves your time and attention, he longs for your prayers, and rejoices in a relationship with you. He is always right there - waiting for you!

What will you declutter? Being overwhelmed, separation from God, feelings of loneliness and sadness, and disappointment from failure.
