Power Read The Bible In 60 Days With Jeff Andersonনমুনা
Day 21
REPETITION AND REPETITION
[Scheduled Reading: 1 Chronicles 24-29; 2 Chronicles 1-16]
Seeing double?
What’s the point of all this repetition?
1 & 2 Chronicles is a rehash of 1 & 2 Kings. Just look at it like the four gospel accounts, each covering the life of Christ, but from the perspective of a different author.
It makes sense that the Bible would give special real estate to the kingdoms of David and Solomon. These were the times Israel was functioning at its greatest capacity. Manpower was massive (remember all the details of King David’s BIG armies, singers, Levites, etc.). And wealth was enormous, especially under King Solomon.
And for a season, worship to God was clicking.
Much of the Old Testament is either about, or authored by, David and Solomon.
In addition to their accounts in Samuel, Chronicles, and Kings, together these two men are responsible for much of the Psalms, and all of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Songs of Solomon.
David and Solomon’s reign marks Israel’s greatest strength and prosperity…. EVER. From there, it’s all downhill.
