After His Heartনমুনা
Warriors
It was the middle of the night. He got up, left his flock, got his load and went straight to his brothers, just as his father had asked. Arriving at the camp he heard a noise and saw everyone positioning. He found his brothers and while talking to them, he heard a challenge coming from a tall man from the enemy’s army. He shouted against the people of Israel and left everyone scared.
This was the famous philistine giant, Goliath. This is one of the most known stories in the Bible.
The boy who defeated the giant may seem like a bedtime story for some, but the truth is that it makes itself real everyday in our lives as we face several Goliaths. We encounter giants inside our own homes and in all areas, whether it’s professional, sentimental or spiritual lives. Sometimes we spend days afraid and being threatened. It’s hard to fight against the giant of failure, of greed, of betrayal, of lie, of despair, of low self-esteem, of hurt, of abandonment, of abuse… It all seems so huge! When David heard Goliath’s threat, it bothered him. “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” - he said. In that moment David knew he had to defeat this giant and that the battle wasn’t his. While the others were looking at their armors, David was looking up. While the others were looking at defeat, David knew knew in whom he should look for victory.
While everyone saw a young boy, God saw a warrior.
