How to Get Free When Someone Hurts Youনমুনা
Get to the Root of the Problem
One day I got a phone call from a woman named Tracy who had a lot of crazy situations going on in her life. She told me, “I’m a Bible-believing Christian. I pray, speak the Word, know how to rebuke the devil and take my authority. But lately it seems like everything in my life is going wrong!”
She told me her car had broken down, then her dishwasher, and she’d been demoted at work. Even after getting a consolidation loan she was still in debt, she’d gotten sick repeatedly, and several people in her life were acting out. There was just a lot going on, and none of it good!
Now, sometimes stuff just happens and life deals us a lot of garbage at once. But I’d just happened to teach forgiveness in a recent class, and it jumped up in my spirit to ask her about it.
“Tracy, is there a chance you’re harboring unforgiveness in your heart against anyone? Has anything happened to you that caused hurt?” I told her a few stories and verses, just to see if anything rang a bell with her.
After listening, Tracy said, “Oh my gosh, you’re right!” She realized she’d been holding onto hurt from a recent altercation, and it was wreaking havoc in her life. We prayed together to forgive that person, and several weeks later she called back to report that every problem had been resolved.
Wow! Who knew that harboring unforgiveness could be the root of so many other issues? Sometimes the devil is so sneaky! But we can outsmart him. Second Corinthians 2:10-11 says, Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive…lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” I’m thankful that Tracy was teachable and quick to forgive when God revealed the problem to her.
Maybe you’re like Tracy, and a lot of things are going wrong. Or maybe you’ve been believing for something for a long time and haven’t seen results. There could be different reasons, but why not just pray and as God, “Am I harboring unforgiveness against anyone?”
If you are, He’ll tell you. Then make it quick, and forgive them! You may be surprised by how fast God turns things around for you. He’s always ready to help us when we turn to him.

About this Plan
Have you been hurt? Unfortunately, most of us have. But while it’s normal to sometimes get hurt, it’s not okay to stay hurt – that’s unforgiveness, and it’s like drinking poison and expecting the other guy to die. It’s eating your lunch! This five day plan can help you leave the hurt behind by forgiving even the toughest person or the most horrible event, so that your heart can be free for good.
