God's Grace Makes the Ordinary Extraordinary
It’s always amazing to see the extraordinary things God can do through the little, mundane, ordinary things of our lives.
A handful of flour and a little oil that belonged to the widow of Zarephath was sufficient to keep her family fed for days on end. A shepherd boy brought down a towering giant with just five little stones and a sling. Thousands ate a little boy’s lunch, and had loads of leftovers to spare.
Our God is in the business of picking up the ordinary and working out the extraordinary through our lives. The perfect example of someone in the Bible who saw this transformation was David.
When the prophet Samuel came to pick a king from the house of Jesse, David was not shortlisted. He had the mundane job of tending the family sheep, but God chose Him to tend an entire kingdom.
God doesn’t think small. He thinks big and so must we. After all, we do serve a great, big God – the King of kings and Lord of lords who created the entire universe with just His word.
You may not have much to your name. You might look at your lack of education, skill or finances, but God sees your heart. The people around you may pinpoint your weaknesses, but you just need to rely on God’s immeasurable strength.
If you are feeling little and inadequate, don’t fret. You are the prime candidate for God's wonder working grace. God is not looking for your ability, He is looking for your availability. Some of the greatest plans of God have come to pass through the littleness of availability.
If you are available, God is able to do a good work in you and through you. There is nothing too small or too little in the hands of God. If you are willing to trust God and surrender your little into His big hands, He will work wonders.
Are you waiting for God to make something extraordinary out of your ordinary life? You are in good company. David had to wait years before he could become king. Keep doing the little things that are in front of you right now and God will bring His big plans to fruition in your life.
