SHE 31 - Woman Of Valourনমুনা
Read: Proverbs 31 in a different translation to what you normally use
We already know that our Proverbs 31 woman fears the Lord. And we’ve already looked at what that means and how we can put this into practice in our own lives. We spoke about the fear of God leading us to valuing His Words and His promises too, and that fearing God saves us from giving in to our own sinful nature.
Fearing God, amongst other things, will lead us to change. When we value God’s words and promises and move away from giving in to our sinful nature, we are taking the first steps towards change. We can trust the Holy Spirit to convict us and help us to navigate the waters of change.
Consider: You can change
Change can feel scary and daunting. Where do we start? How do we do it? What if we can’t? What it’s just too much of an effort? Romans 12 v 1 - 2 encourages us that we can change:
“And so , dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
God is a God of transformation but we have to allow Him to change us. He won’t force us to change. The decision to change is ours.
Context: Why bother?
Maybe change excites you. Maybe you’re reading this with dread in the pit of your stomach. Growing up in church, I often heard a well-known phrase: “Jesus loves you as you are, but He loves you too much to leave you that way.” We are all on a change journey. Whether you’ve known Jesus for 2 weeks or 40 years. We are constantly changing to become more like Jesus. The only perfect person to walk the earth was Him and so until the day that we die we will be changing to be more like Him.
Over to you: Ask yourself…..
- How do you feel about change? Do you fear it or embrace it?
- How have you changed since you first gave your life to Jesus?
- Spend some time with God asking Him to show you the areas in which you need to change. Who can come alongside you to support you and to keep you accountable in this change?

About this Plan
Whilst the Proverbs 31 woman can so easily be seen as an intimidating list of characteristics we can’t measure up to, we believe that it an inspiration of all that God celebrates in His daughters. A woman not only to be revered but also celebrated and imitated. This plan is the overflow of Freedom Church's women's' ministry SHE.
