THE GOD OF PEACE AND HOPE - Day 1
Today's Psalm is beautiful. Take a moment to read it again if you’d like to. It’s almost captivating in its cadence and the images that it paints. Do you feel a sense of calm after reading this Psalm? How about a sense of hope and peace?
This week we will be studying Psalm 121, A Song of Ascents. This is a truly special piece of scripture that invites and ushers in God’s overwhelming peace in the face of any fear or circumstance.
Historically, Psalm 121 is one of the 15 Songs of Ascents. These Psalms, Psalms 120 to 134, were sung by Israelite pilgrims as they ascended to Jerusalem to worship God. The road to Jerusalem was long and it was a challenging journey physically and mentally. Isn't it amazing that God can take this Psalm, which was used in a very specific time and place, and use David's writing abilities to turn it into a poem that can apply to us all throughout generations?
That's what our God does. He leaves no moment wasted and no prayer unheard. He always has a bigger picture in mind. And He always seeks to come alongside us in our time of need. Prayerfully prepare your heart to study this gorgeous Psalm this week. It may seem like a simple text, but if we ask God to reveal more to us, He always will.

About this Plan
In his ‘Letter to Marcellinus’, Athanasius of Alexandria (4c) said, “Most Scripture speaks to us; the Psalms speak for us." This devotional contains a selection from the Psalms. Through these selections, we hope to show that nothing is off limits when it comes to prayer. Anything and everything, even things that come from the darkest parts of our hearts, can be brought to God. He listens!
