Connection
People yearn for connection. The majority of us, no matter the age, race, socioeconomic class, desire connection with people. We live in a society that is active for connection. Nowadays, we can share playlists. You have a playlist with your music app and want to share, you can! Students do it all the time. Or stay connected with old friends on social media. Making new friends on Instagram. Back in the day, hardly anybody would ride a taxi unless it was necessary. Now we Uber. We Uber everywhere, even to grab a bite to eat. We stay connected with people because our natural being yearns for it. Nevertheless, the connection we make with people has to be higher than a hobby. It has to be deeper than a Facebook comment or a Snapchat. It has to be better than sharing your favorite sports team. It has to be from the heart.
Connecting from the heart requires vulnerability. Sharing with a friend where you’re hurting or healing. We live parallels lives yet are not connecting in the aspects of the heart. We want people to believe we have it all together and put up a wall that keeps us from having a true connection with another person. Marriages should not only be roommates but soulmates. Not only share a house but hearts. Families should be connecting. Put away your phone and connect with your children. Here are three points that can help you build a true connection from the heart.
1. Time. Give your time. Whether it’s to your children or a friend. Connection requires your time.
2. Attention. Be attentive when you’re connecting with someone. We all know that you could be home and not present. Make sure your mind and ears are present to have true connection from the heart.
3. Resources. We give our resources with true connection. Sharing the resources of our hearts with vulnerability. Letting others know our needs and thoughts. Also sharing our material resources while connecting. Whether is using a car to give someone a ride. Blessing a friend who’s in need, with food or a gift card. We can have connection from the heart with our resources.
Challenge your hearts to have a true connection with others.

About this Plan
Loving God first and foremost is the first step towards loving first. God equals love. He sent His son to die for us. The love God has for us does not compare to any other love you will experience. It’s a love that impacts and transforms. When we choose to love God first, we are capable of loving others even when it may seem hard to do so. God changes our hearts with love.
