DAY 13 OF 21

Casting Down Condemnation

Condemnation, guilt, and shame are relentless weapons that bombard the soul. Left unchecked, they will continually harass and torment the thoughts of God’s children and, through them, the enemy will rob the believer of their joy (see John 10:10). As long as the enemy can deceive us into thinking that we are still the person we used to be, we will behave like the person we used to be. We will always live up to or live down to what we believe about ourselves.

When Jesus died on the cross, he satisfied the legal obligation of sin. The bible calls this redemption. And we learn in Titus 2:14 that Jesus, “gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own…” So when the bible says “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” this is not just wishful thinking; it’s a spiritual fact. The price for our sin has been paid in full and the guilt of our sin has been removed. Praise the Lord! Being armed with this truth, we disarm every accusation of guilt, shame, and condemnation. We are free from our past because God says so. God said it; that settles it!

Believer, arming yourself with the truth of God’s word is essential to the wellbeing of your soul. It’s not an option. You will never overcome the lies of the enemy without carefully guarding your thoughts with the power of God’s truth. Ephesians 6:17 commands us to “take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Strap on that sword and overcome!

PRAYER

God, I thank you for everything you have done to bring about my salvation and restoration. I confess with my mouth that, because of Christ’s death on the cross, there is no condemnation upon me. I am forgiven. I am redeemed. I am set free! Lord, help me to train myself to disarm every lie of the enemy. Restore my thinking that I may live in victory!
