WORRY ABOUT WORDS
When I think of Christians worrying, what comes to mind often is how we relate to the unsaved. Do you worry about what to say or if you will say it right? Jesus addresses this quite directly in Luke 12:8-12.
When we are anticipating confrontation with unbelievers we often worry about what we should say. How could worry impact how we eventually respond in a situation? What is the consequence for that worry and that response? What does Jesus say we are to do?
Now read Acts 5:27-42. As you read, think about the fears you may have in sharing the Gospel. What did Peter say? How did the apostles respond at the end of the passage? Like the apostles, will you rejoice at being considered worthy to suffer shame for His name? If we rejoice at the thought of suffering shame for Him, we will not be worrying about it!
We are not to sinfully worry about what we will say if asked about the gospel. But the Bible also commands us to be prepared. Read 1 Peter 3:15. What are some ways that you can prepare? Do you need to have a more clear idea about how to communicate the gospel? Is there an apologetics book you need to read?
Take time now to think of unsaved people you may come in contact with on a regular basis. Write their names down. Pray for opportunities to share the Gospel with them. Ask the Lord to help you be ready to share with them and not worry about what you will say if confronted or asked.
If you do not have very many people on your list, or perhaps no one, take time now to think about ways you can build relationships with those who don’t know the Lord. Get to know the people in the world around you. Have fun experiencing life with those around you and rejoice at all of the opportunities the Lord gives you to be a blessing and to share the gospel!
Go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to give you the courage to not worry about what people will think or what you will say when asked about your faith, and that you would truly rejoice in the opportunities He gives you. Ask Him to give you a love for people that surpasses your fear!
