1and these are the names of the children of Israel who are having come to Egypt with Yaakov; each with his household are they having come: 2Reuven, Shim'on, Levi, and Yehudah; 3Yissakhar, Zebulun, and Benjamin; 4Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. 5and all persons who are having come out of Jacob's thigh, are having been seventy persons; and Yosef is already having been in Egypt. 6is died Yosef, and all his brothers, and that whole generation. 7and the children of Israel have self been fruitful, and self swarmed and multiplied, and they are having become very very strong, and the whole land is full having become with them.
8there arose a new king over Egypt, who has not known Yosef. 9and he has said to his people: see, these people of the children of Israel are more (numerous) and stronger than us. 10come let us self be cunning against him; or else will he self increase, and it will be, that it will self befall a battle, will he also join to to our enemies, and he will battle hold against us, and will go out of land.
11have they made over them overseers of slave gangs, so that them to cause to suffer with their hard work, and he has built granary towns before Pharaoh, Pithom and Rameses. 12but just as they have him tormented, in same way has he self multiplied, and thus has he self spread out; and they are having been in terror before the children of Israel. 13and the Egyptians have made to work the children of Israel with harshness. 14and they have made miserable their lives with severe work, by clay and by brick, and by all kinds of work in field; all the work their which they have with them worked, is having been with harshness.
15and the king of Egypt has spoken to the Hebrew midwives, whose the name of one is having been Siporah, and the name of the second Puah, 16and he has said: when you (PL) help the Hebrew wives to give birth, shall you (PL) see on birthing stool, if this is a son, shall you (PL) him to kill, and if this is a daughter, shall she remain alive.
17but the midwives have fear have had for G-d, and they have not done as like the king of Egypt has them ordered, and they have left alive the boys. 18has the king of Egypt called the midwives, and has to them said: for why have you (PL) done the this thing, and left alive the boys? 19have the midwives said to Pharaoh: because not as like the Egyptian women are the Hebrew; because they are lively/strong; before the midwife comes to them, have they already given birth.
20and G-d has done good things with the midwives; and the people have self multiplied, and they are having become very powerful. 21and it is having been, because the midwives have fear had for G-d, has he them made households.
22and Pharaoh has commanded his all people, thus to say: every son which shall be given birth to, shall you (PL) him in the river throw into, and every daughter shall you (PL) leave alive.
