Revelation 19

The Rejoicing in Heaven

1 # Rev 4.11; 7.10, 12; 11.15; 12.10 After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,

“Hallelujah!

Salvation and glory and power to our God,

2 # Deut 32.43; Rev 6.10 for his judgments are true and just;

he has judged the great whore#19.2 Or prostitute

who corrupted the earth with her prostitution,

and he has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”

The smoke goes up from her forever and ever.”

for the marriage of the Lamb has come,

for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

The Rider on the White Horse

Its rider is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and wages war. 12#Rev 1.14; 2.17; 6.2His eyes are like#19.12 Other ancient authorities omit like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name inscribed that no one knows but himself. 13#Isa 63.2, 3; Jn 1.1He is clothed in a robe dipped in#19.13 Other ancient authorities read sprinkled with blood, and his name is called The Word of God. 14And the armies of heaven, wearing fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. 15#Ps 2.9; Isa 11.4; 2 Thess 2.8; Rev 2.27; 14.19, 20From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule#19.15 Or will shepherd them with a scepter of iron; he will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16#Dan 2.47; Rev 17.14On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

The Beast and Its Armies Defeated

17 # Ezek 39.17; Rev 8.13 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly in midheaven, “Come, gather for the great supper of God, 18#Ezek 39.18–20; Rev 11.18to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of the mighty, the flesh of horses and their riders—flesh of all, both free and slave, both small and great.” 19#Rev 11.7; 16.14, 16Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to wage war against the rider on the horse and against his army. 20And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed in its presence the signs by which he deceived those who had received the brand of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. 21And the rest were killed by the sword of the rider on the horse, the sword that came from his mouth, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.
