Psalm 16
You Will Not Forsake My Soul
A #16:0 Possibly Epigrammatic Poem, Atonement PsalmMikhtam of David.
1Keep me, O God, for I take refuge in You.
2 O my soul, you have said to Yahweh, “You are #16:2 Or the Lordmy Lord;
I have no good without You.”
3As for the #16:3 Lit holy onessaints who are in the earth,
They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight.
4The #16:4 Sorrows due to idolatrypains of those who have #16:4 Or hastened tobartered for another god will be multiplied;
I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood,
Nor will I take their names upon my lips.
5¶Yahweh is the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You support my lot.
6The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Indeed, my inheritance is beautiful to me.
7¶I will bless Yahweh who has counseled me;
Indeed, my #16:7 Lit kidneys, figurative for inner manmind instructs me in the night.
8I have set Yahweh continually before me;
Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will dwell securely.
10For You will not forsake my soul to Sheol;
You will not give Your #16:10 Or godly oneHoly One over to see #16:10 Or the pitcorruption.
11You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
