Contributions for the Sanctuary
1Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Speak with the sons of Israel so that they take a #25:2 Or heave offeringcontribution for Me; from every man whose heart is willing you shall take My #25:2 Or heave offeringcontribution. 3And this is the #25:3 Or heave offeringcontribution which you shall take from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4#25:4 Or violetblue, purple, and scarlet material, fine linen, goat hair, 5rams’ skins dyed red, porpoise skins, acacia wood, 6oil for lighting, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7onyx stones, and setting stones for the ephod and for the #25:7 Or pouchbreastpiece. 8And let them make a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them. 9According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture, just so you shall make it.
The Ark of the Testimony
10“And they shall make an ark of acacia wood two and a half #25:10 A cubit was approx. 18 in. or 45 cmcubits #25:10 Lit its lengthlong, and one and a half cubits #25:10 Lit its widthwide, and one and a half cubits #25:10 Lit its heighthigh. 11You shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and out you shall overlay it, and you shall make a gold molding #25:11 Lit on it round aboutaround it. 12You shall cast four gold rings for it and #25:12 Or putfasten them on its four feet, and two rings shall be on one side of it and two rings on the other side of it. 13You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 14You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark with them. 15The poles shall #25:15 Lit beremain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be removed from it. 16You shall put into the ark the testimony which I shall give you.
17“You shall make a #25:17 Or propitiatory seat, place of atonement, so through v 22mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half #25:17 A cubit was approx. 18 in. or 45 cmcubits #25:17 Lit its lengthlong and one and a half cubits #25:17 Lit its widthwide. 18You shall make two cherubim of gold; make them of hammered work #25:18 Lit fromat the two ends of the mercy seat. 19Make one cherub #25:19 Lit fromat one end and one cherub #25:19 Lit fromat the other end; from one piece you shall make the mercy seat with the cherubim at its two ends. 20The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another; the faces of the cherubim are to be toward the mercy seat. 21You shall put the mercy seat #25:21 Lit above, uponon top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony which I will give to you. 22There I will meet with you; and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all which I will command you for the sons of Israel.
Bread of the Presence
23“You shall make a table of acacia wood, two #25:23 A cubit was approx. 18 in. or 45 cmcubits #25:23 Lit its lengthlong and one cubit #25:23 Lit its widthwide and one and a half cubits #25:23 Lit its heighthigh. 24You shall overlay it with pure gold and make a gold border around it. 25You shall make for it a rim of a #25:25 A handbreadth was approx. 3 in. or 7.6 cmhandbreadth around it; and you shall make a gold border for the rim around it. 26You shall make four gold rings for it and put rings on the four corners which are on its four feet. 27The rings shall be close to the rim as holders for the poles to carry the table. 28You shall make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, so that with them the table may be carried. 29You shall make its #25:29 Or plattersdishes and its pans and its jars and its offering bowls with which to pour drink offerings; you shall make them of pure gold. 30You shall set the bread of the #25:30 Lit FacePresence on the table before Me #25:30 Or continuallyat all times.
The Golden Lampstand
31“Then you shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand, its base, and its shaft are to be made of hammered work; its cups, its #25:31 Or calyxbulbs, and its flowers shall be #25:31 Lit of itselfof the same piece. 32Six branches shall go out from its sides; three branches of the lampstand from its one side and three branches of the lampstand from its #25:32 Lit secondother side. 33Three cups shall be shaped like almond blossoms in the one branch, a #25:33 Or calyxbulb and a flower, and three cups shaped like almond blossoms in the #25:33 Lit one branchother branch, a #25:33 Or calyxbulb and a flower—so for the six branches going out from the lampstand; 34and in the lampstand four cups shaped like almond blossoms, its #25:34 Or calyxesbulbs and its flowers. 35And a #25:35 Or calyxbulb shall be under the first pair of branches coming out of it, and a #25:35 Or calyxbulb under the second pair of branches coming out of it, and a #25:35 Or calyxbulb under the third pair of branches coming out of it, for the six branches coming out of the lampstand. 36Their #25:36 Or calyxesbulbs and their branches shall be #25:36 Lit of itselfof the same piece; all of it shall be one piece of hammered work of pure gold. 37Then you shall make its lamps seven in number; and they shall #25:37 Lit raise upmount its lamps so as to shed light on the space in front of it. 38And its tongs and #25:38 Lit its snuff dishestheir trays shall be of pure gold. 39It shall be made from a #25:39 A talent was approx. 75 lb. or 34 kgtalent of pure gold, with all these utensils. 40And see that you make them after the pattern for them, which was shown to you on the mountain.
