3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before #1:4 Or Him, in loveHim in love, 5by predestining us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He graciously bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7In #1:7 Lit whomHim we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our transgressions, according to the riches of His grace 8which He caused to abound to us in all wisdom and insight, 9making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Him 10for an administration of the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things #1:10 Lit uponin the heavens and things on the earth in Him. 11In #1:11 Lit whomHim, we also #1:11 Or obtained an inheritancehave been made an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12to the end that we who first have hoped in #1:12 MessiahChrist would be to the praise of His glory. 13In #1:13 Lit whomHim, you also, after listening to the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also #1:13 Or believed in Himbelieved, you were sealed in #1:13 Lit whomHim with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is #1:14 Or a down paymentgiven as a pledge of our inheritance, unto the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.
15For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and #1:15 Three early mss omit your loveyour love for all the #1:15 Or holy onessaints, 16do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers: 17that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the #1:17 Or spiritSpirit of wisdom and of revelation in the #1:17 Or true knowledgefull knowledge of Him, 18so that you—the eyes of your heart having been enlightened—will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the #1:18 Or holy onessaints, 19and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe according to the working of the might of His strength, 20which He worked in Christ, by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
