Revelation 4

4
The Throne in Heaven
1After this I looked, and I saw that the door to heaven was open. And I heard the voice that I’d heard before, the one that had sounded like a trumpet, saying, “Come up here, and I’ll show you what must happen after this.” 2At once I was in the Spirit, and there in front of me I saw a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3The one who sat there shone like precious stones, like jasper and ruby. Around the throne there was a rainbow that shone like an emerald. 4All around the throne there were 24 other thrones, and 24 elders were sitting on them. The elders were dressed in white, and they had gold crowns on their heads. 5From the central throne came flashes of lightning, loud noises, and thunder. Seven lamps were blazing in front of it; these are the seven spirits of God. 6In front of the throne there was also something that looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the inner circle, around the throne, were four living creatures. They were covered with eyes in front and in back. 7The first creature looked like a lion, the second looked like an ox, the third had a man’s face, and the fourth looked like a flying eagle. 8Each of the four living creatures had six wings, and each creature was covered all over with eyes, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying,
“ ‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.”
9Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to the one who sits on the throne, who lives for ever and ever, 10the 24 elders fall down and worship the one who sits on the throne, who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns in front of the throne and say,
11“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
because you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and came into existence.”
