Psalms 137
137
psalm CXXXVII (1–6).
Tuin: Old 137th
1By Babel’s fludes we murnin’ sat,
When Zion cam’ to mind;
2Oor harps we hang the saughs amang,
The burnie’s banks that lin’d.
3They plague’d us lang to lilt a sang,
That did us captives bring;
4Wha wrocht us wae, wad nocht but play,
“The sangs o’ Zion sing.”
Hoo could we raise Jehovah’s praise
Athin an uncan land?
5Gin I forget Jerus’lem, let
Me tine my slicht o’ hand.
6My tongue gang dry, gin ever I
Sood think‐na lang on thee;
And gin I fail thysel’ to wale
Owre a’ that’s dear to me!
