Praise the King
A psalm.
1Sing a new song to the Lord, # 98:1 Ps 33:3
for he has performed wonders;
his right hand and holy arm
have won him victory. # 98:1 Ex 15:6; Is 52:10
2The Lord has made his victory known;
he has revealed his righteousness
in the sight of the nations. # 98:2 Is 56:1; 62:2
3He has remembered his love
and faithfulness to the house of Israel;
all the ends of the earth
have seen our God’s victory. # 98:3 Ps 22:27; Is 52:10
4Let the whole earth shout to the Lord;
be jubilant, shout for joy, and sing. # 98:4 Ps 66:1; 100:1; Is 44:23
5Sing to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and melodious song. # 98:5 Ps 51:3; Is 51:3
6With trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn
shout triumphantly
in the presence of the Lord, our King. # 98:6 Nm 10:10; 2Ch 15:14
7Let the sea and all that fills it,
the world and those who live in it, resound. # 98:7 1Ch 16:31–32; Ps 93:1; 97:1
8Let the rivers clap their hands;
let the mountains shout together for joy # 98:8 Ps 89:12; Is 55:12
9before the Lord,
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world righteously
and the peoples fairly. # 98:9 Ps 9:8; 67:4; 96:13
