Zion, the City of God
A psalm of the sons of Korah. A song.
1The city he founded # 87:1 Lit His foundation is on the holy mountains. # 87:1 Ps 78:69; Is 28:16
2The Lord loves Zion’s city gates
more than all the dwellings of Jacob. # 87:2 Ps 78:67–68
3Glorious things are said about you,
city of God. # 87:3 Ps 48:8 Selah
4“I will make a record of those who know me:
Rahab, Babylon, Philistia, Tyre, and Cush —
each one was born there.” # 87:4 Is 19:23–25; 56:6–7; Zch 2:10–12
5And it will be said of Zion,
“This one and that one were born in her.”
The Most High himself will establish her. # 87:5 Ps 48:8; Is 2:2
6When he registers the peoples,
the Lord will record,
“This one was born there.” # 87:6 Is 4:3; Ezk 13:9 Selah
7Singers and dancers # 87:7 Or musicians alike will say, # 87:7 Or As they dance they will sing
“My whole source of joy is # 87:7 Lit “All my springs are in you.” # 87:7 Ps 46:4; 68:25
