God Judges the Wicked

1We give thanks to you, God;
we give thanks to you, for your name is near. # 75:1 Dt 4:7; Ps 145:18; Is 55:6; Lm 3:57
People tell about your wondrous works. # 75:1 Ps 26:7
2“When I choose a time,
I will judge fairly. # 75:2 Ps 9:8; 96:10
3When the earth and all its inhabitants shake,
I am the one who steadies its pillars. # 75:3 1Sm 2:8; Ps 46:6; Is 24:19 Selah
4I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn. # 75:4 Pr 27:1; Jr 9:23
5Do not lift up your horn against heaven # 75:5 Lit horn to the height
or speak arrogantly.’ ” # 75:5 1Sm 2:3; Ps 94:4
6Exaltation does not come
from the east, the west, or the desert,
7for God is the Judge:
He brings down one and exalts another. # 75:6–7 1Sm 2:7–8; Ps 50:6; Lk 1:52–53
8For there is a cup in the Lord’s hand,
full of wine blended with spices, and he pours from it.
All the wicked of the earth will drink,
draining it to the dregs. # 75:8 Is 51:17,22; Jr 25:15–17
9As for me, I will tell about him forever;
I will sing praise to the God of Jacob. # 75:9 Ps 9:2; 18:49; 81:1
10“I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, # 75:10 Jr 48:25
