God Our King
For the choir director. A psalm of the sons of Korah.
1Clap your hands, all you peoples;#Is 55:12
shout to God with a jubilant cry.#Ps 95:1
2For the Lord, the Most High, is awe-inspiring,
a great King over the whole earth.#Dt 7:21; Neh 1:5; Mal 1:14
3He subdues peoples under us
and nations under our feet.#Ps 2:8; 18:47
4He chooses for us our inheritance —
the pride of Jacob, whom he loves.#Am 8:7; Nah 2:2Selah
5God ascends among shouts of joy,
the Lord, with the sound of a ram’s horn.#2Sm 6:15; Ps 68:18; 98:6
6Sing praise to God, sing praise;
sing praise to our King, sing praise!#Ps 68:4; 89:18
7Sing a song of wisdom,#47:7 Or Sing a maskil
for God is King of the whole earth.#Zch 14:9; 1Co 14:15
8God reigns over the nations;
God is seated on his holy throne.#1Ch 16:31; Ps 22:28; 97:2
9The nobles of the peoples have assembled
with the people of the God of Abraham.#Ps 102:22
For the leaders#47:9 Lit shields of the earth belong to God;
he is greatly exalted.#Ps 72:11; Is 49:7,23
