24
The King of Glory
A psalm of David.
1The earth and everything in it,
the world and its inhabitants,
belong to the Lord; # 24:1 Dt 10:14; Ps 89:11; 1Co 10:26
2for he laid its foundation on the seas
and established it on the rivers. # 24:2 Ps 104:5; Pr 8:29
3Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place? # 24:3 Ps 15:1
4The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, # 24:4 Jb 22:30; Ps 73:1; Mt 5:8
who has not appealed to # 24:4 Lit not lifted up his soul to what is false, # 24:4 2Kg 1:2–3; Ps 31:6; 119:37
and who has not sworn deceitfully.
5He will receive blessing from the Lord, # 24:5 Ps 115:13
and righteousness # 24:5 Or vindication from the God of his salvation. # 24:5 Ps 65:5
6Such is the generation of those who inquire of him,

7Lift up your heads, you gates!
Rise up, ancient doors!
Then the King of glory will come in. # 24:7 Ps 118:19–20; Is 26:2
8Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle. # 24:8 Ex 15:3; Ps 76:3–6
9Lift up your heads, you gates!
Rise up, ancient doors!
Then the King of glory will come in.
10Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord of Armies,
he is the King of glory. # 24:10 Is 24:23 Selah
