The God of Compassion
1Hallelujah!
My soul, praise the Lord. # 146:1 Ps 103:1
2I will praise the Lord all my life;

3Do not trust in nobles,

4When his breath # 146:4 Or spirit leaves him,
he returns to the ground;

5Happy is the one whose help is the God of Jacob,

6the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea and everything in them. # 146:6 Ps 115:15; Ac 14:15
He remains faithful forever, # 146:6 Ps 117:2
7executing justice for the exploited
and giving food to the hungry. # 146:7 Ps 103:6; 107:9
The Lord frees prisoners. # 146:7 Is 61:1
8The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. # 146:8 Mt 9:27–30; Jn 9:7
The Lord raises up those who are oppressed. # 146:8 Lit bowed down,# 146:8 Ps 145:15
The Lord loves the righteous. # 146:8 Ps 11:7
9The Lord protects resident aliens
and helps the fatherless and the widow, # 146:9 Ex 22:22–23; Dt 10:18
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. # 146:9 Ps 147:6
10The Lord reigns forever;
Zion, your God reigns for all generations. # 146:10 Ex 15:18; Ps 10:16
