A Cry of Distress

1I cry aloud to the Lord; # 142:1 Ps 3:4; 77:1
I plead aloud to the Lord for mercy. # 142:1 Ps 30:8
2I pour out my complaint before him;
I reveal my trouble to him. # 142:2 Ps 77:2; 102 title
3Although my spirit is weak within me,
you know my way. # 142:3 Ps 77:3; 143:4
Along this path I travel
they have hidden a trap for me. # 142:3 Ps 140:5

no one stands up for me;
there is no refuge for me;

5I cry to you, Lord;
I say, “You are my shelter,
my portion in the land of the living.” # 142:5 Ps 16:5; 27:13
6Listen to my cry,
for I am very weak. # 142:6 Ps 79:8; 116:6
Rescue me from those who pursue me,
for they are too strong for me. # 142:6 Ps 18:17
7Free me from prison
so that I can praise your name.
The righteous will gather around me
because you deal generously with me. # 142:7 Ps 13:6; 143:11
