The Traits of the Righteous

Happy is the person who fears the Lord,
taking great delight in his commands. # 112:1 Ps 1:2; 119:16; 128:1
2His descendants will be powerful in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed. # 112:2 Ps 102:28
3Wealth and riches are in his house, # 112:3 Pr 3:16; 8:18
and his righteousness endures forever. # 112:3 Ps 111:3
4Light shines in the darkness for the upright. # 112:4 Ps 97:11
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous. # 112:4 Ex 34:6; Neh 9:17; Ps 116:5
5Good will come to the one who lends generously
and conducts his business fairly. # 112:5 Ps 15:5; 37:26
6He will never be shaken. # 112:6 Ps 55:22
The righteous one will be remembered forever. # 112:6 Pr 10:7
7He will not fear bad news;
his heart is confident, trusting in the Lord. # 112:7 Ps 56:4; 57:7; Pr 1:33
8His heart is assured; he will not fear. # 112:8 Ps 27:1; 56:11
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes. # 112:8 Ps 54:7; 59:10
9He distributes freely to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever. # 112:9 2Co 9:9
His horn will be exalted in honor. # 112:9 Ps 75:10; 89:17
10The wicked one will see it and be angry;
he will gnash his teeth in despair. # 112:10 Jb 16:9; Ps 35:16
The desire of the wicked leads to ruin. # 112:10 Pr 10:28; 11:7
