A Plea for Victory

1My heart is confident, God;
I will sing; I will sing praises

2Wake up, harp and lyre!

3I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples;

4For your faithful love is higher than the heavens,

5God, be exalted above the heavens, # 108:5 Ps 113:4
and let your glory be over the whole earth. # 108:1–5 Ps 57:7–11
6Save with your right hand and answer me
so that those you love may be rescued. # 108:6 Ps 17:7; 20:6; 138:7
7God has spoken in his sanctuary: # 108:7 Or has promised by his holy nature
“I will celebrate!
I will divide up Shechem. # 108:7 Gn 12:6; 33:18
I will apportion the Valley of Succoth. # 108:7 Gn 33:17
8Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine,
and Ephraim is my helmet; # 108:8 Dt 33:17; Jos 13:31

I throw my sandal on Edom. # 108:9 2Sm 8:14

10Who will bring me to the fortified city?

11God, haven’t you rejected us?

12Give us aid against the foe,
