104
1Bless the Lord, O my soul! # Ps 103:22
O Lord my God, You are very great!
You are clothed with honor and majesty, # Ps 93:1
2covering Yourself with light as with a garment, # Da 7:9
stretching out the heavens like a curtain. # Isa 40:22
3He lays the beams of His upper chambers on the waters; # Am 9:6
He makes the clouds His chariot;
He walks upon the wings of the wind; # Isa 19:1
4He makes His angels spirits,
His ministers a flaming fire. # 2Ki 2:11; 6:17; Heb 1:7
5You laid the earth on its foundations, # Job 26:7; Ps 24:2
so that it should never be moved.
6You covered it with the deep as with a garment; # Ge 7:19
the waters stood above the mountains.
7At Your rebuke they fled; # Ge 8:1; Ps 18:15
at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away.
8The mountains rose;
the valleys sank down
to the place which You established for them.
9You set a boundary that they may not pass over, # Job 26:10
that they may not return to cover the earth. # Ge 9:11–15
10You send the springs into the valleys; # Ps 107:35; Isa 41:18
they flow between the hills.
11They give drink to every beast of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12By them the birds of the heavens have their habitation;
they sing among the branches.
13You water the mountains from Your upper chambers; # Ps 147:8; Jer 10:13
the earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works.
14You cause the grass to grow for the cattle, # Ps 147:8–9
and vegetation for the cultivation of man,
that he may bring forth food from the earth, # Job 28:5
15and wine that makes glad the heart of man, # Jdg 9:13
oil to make his face shine, # Ps 23:5
and bread which strengthens man’s heart.
16The trees of the Lord are full of sap,
the cedars of Lebanon which He planted, # Nu 24:6
17where the birds make their nests;
the stork has its home in the fir trees. # Lev 11:19; Ps 104:12
18The high mountains are for the wild goats; # Job 39:1
the rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers. # Pr 30:26
19He made the moon for the seasons;
the sun knows its place for setting.
20You make darkness, and it is night, # Ps 74:16; Isa 45:7
in which all the beasts of the forest creep about.
21The young lions roar after their prey,
and seek their food from God. # Job 38:39; Joel 1:20
22When the sun rises, they gather together
and lie down in their dens. # Job 37:8
23Man goes out to his work # Ge 3:19
and to his labor until the evening.
24O Lord, how manifold are Your works! # Ps 40:5
In wisdom You have made them all. # Ps 136:5
The earth is full of Your possessions.
25So is this great and wide sea,
which is full of innumerable creatures,
living things both small and great. # Ps 69:34
26There the ships sail along; # Ps 107:23
and there is Leviathan, # Ps 74:14; Isa 27:1 which You have made to play in it.
27These all wait upon You,
that You may give them their food in due season. # Ps 136:25; 147:9
28You give to them;
they gather it up;
You open Your hand,
they are filled with good. # Ps 145:16
29You hide Your face;
they are troubled;
You take away their breath;
they die and return to their dust. # Ge 3:19; Job 34:14–15
30You send forth Your Spirit;
they are created, # Job 26:13; 33:4
and You renew the face of the ground.
31May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in His works. # Ge 1:31
32He looks at the earth, and it trembles;
He touches the mountains, and they smoke. # Ex 19:18; Ps 144:5
33I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. # Ps 63:4; 146:2
34May my meditation be sweet to Him;
I will be glad in the Lord.
35May sinners be consumed from the earth,
and let the wicked be no more. # Ps 37:38; 59:13
