Hebrews 8

Jesus Our High Priest
1Now this is the main point of the things that we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, # Col 3:1; Heb 1:3 2a minister in the sanctuary and the true tabernacle, which the Lord, not man, set up.
3For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices. # Heb 5:1 Therefore it is necessary that this priest also have something to offer. # Eph 5:2 4For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests that offer gifts according to the law. 5They serve in a sanctuary that is an example and shadow of the heavenly one, # Col 2:17 as Moses was instructed by God when he was about to make the tabernacle, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” # Ex 25:40 # 8:5 Ex 25:40. 6But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, because He is the Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. # 2Co 3:6–11; Heb 7:22; 12:24
7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no occasion would have been sought for a second. # Heb 7:11, 18 8For finding fault with them, God says:
“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant # Lk 22:20
with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah, # Jer 31:31–34
9not according to the covenant
that I made with their fathers # Dt 5:2–3
in the day when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of the land of Egypt;
because they did not continue in My covenant, # Jer 31:32
and I rejected them, says the Lord.
10This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, says the Lord:
I will put My laws into their minds
and write them on their hearts;
and I will be their God,
and they shall be My people. # Jer 31:33; 2Co 3:3
11No longer shall every man teach his neighbor,
and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
for all shall know Me, # Isa 54:13; Jn 6:45; 1Jn 2:27
from the least of them to the greatest. # 8:11 Isa 54:13.
12For I will be merciful toward their unrighteousness,
and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” # Isa 43:25; Ro 11:27 # 8:8–12 Isa 43:25; Jer 31:31–34; 50:20; Mic 7:18–19.
13In speaking of a new covenant He has made the first one old. Now that which is decaying and growing old is ready to vanish away. # 2Co 5:17
