For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. The Lord sent a word against Jacob, And it has fallen on Israel. All the people will know— Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria— Who say in pride and arrogance of heart: “The bricks have fallen down, But we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down, But we will replace them with cedars.” Therefore the LORD shall set up The adversaries of Rezin against him, And spur his enemies on, The Syrians before and the Philistines behind; And they shall devour Israel with an open mouth. For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.

Jesus is our only true Resting Place. During different seasons of our lives, we can become overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, sad, or even depressed. This is particularly upsetting when we want to love the Lord, enjoy Him, and bless those around us. This plan is designed to be a very practical help to reclaim our joy, peace, and witness during these difficult times.
Join me for a three day devotional as we uncover the true meaning of Christmas. What things do you most look forward to and love about Christmas? It probably has something to do with making new memories and taking time to enjoy old ones, right? The decorations, the traditions, the celebrations with family and friends—it’s a special time of year and there’s nothing else like it. We roll our eyes when stores begin marketing the holiday months in advance, but it’s hard to blame them. Christmas is an entirely unique season, and even though we sometimes don’t want it to come at us too early, many of us can admit we also don’t want it to end. We’d rather hold on to Christmas than let it go, and it’s important to consider why.
In this three-day devotional plan, Dr. LaDonna C. Osborn explores God’s promises of a Savior who would come to redeem His people and give us peace. From the garden of Eden to Isaiah, from John the Baptist to Peter, we learn how the gospel of the good news of the Prince of Peace can inspire us today.
If you haven't guessed it yet, in this final Advent devotional plan, Dr. Mark Rae will take us through the fourth traditional word associated with Advent: PEACE. The word translated as peace in the Old Testament is the Hebrew word shalom, which means "everything as it should be." Jesus came to line up everything the way God meant it to be – Jesus is our shalom.
