Born Again?Пример
Evidence of life
Have you heard of a “born again Christian”? Do you know what born again means? After studying the appearances of that phrase in God’s Word—twice from Jesus and once from Peter—I can think of six connections between being born physically and being born again spiritually, which I will unpack for you in our upcoming devotions. The first—evidence of life.
When you were born, there was evidence of life. Heartbeat. Brain waves. Breathing lungs. If you have been born again (when you became a Christian), there is evidence of spiritual life, namely, repentance and faith. Your heart beats with repentance (no true Christian can live in sin) and looks to Jesus for salvation (no true Christian looks to themselves to be saved). This is why Jesus summarized Christianity by saying, “Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15). Everyone who repents and believes has evidence that they are a born-again member of God’s family.
But please don’t confuse strength with life. A baby is not strong, but it’s still alive. And you might not be strong in your faith or as mature as other Christians, but you’re alive. Some of us doubt our place in God’s family because we feel weak or struggle with the same sin year after year, but that doesn’t deny the evidence of true faith. I hope your faith gets bigger and stronger, but even God’s littlest kids have life.
Do you regret your sin? Do you believe Jesus died for you too? Then take heart! You have been born again!
