All In

ДЕН 17 ОТ 31

I was exposed to the Franklin Covey Time Management System in my first professional job. This involved a paper 365 day calendar with a prioritization scheme to accomplish tasks. After listing the tasks I wanted to accomplish each day, I assigned each one an A, B, C, or D accompanied by a number. A1 was the most significant priority, followed by A2, A3, etc. Still with me?

Since I am motivated by accomplishment, the more things I could “check off” in a day, the more productive and happier I felt. A lifestyle of discipline and consistency evolved and became an important part of my professional and personal identity.

I still use this planning system for all aspects of my life. I get up very early in the morning to run, study the Bible, assemble my food for the day, and head to CrossFit, all before 6:00 a.m.

Obviously, this schedule is not for everyone, but over time, these behaviors have now become a routine. My morning is now habitual and has transformed from a habit to a lifestyle. Jesus’ consistency, His supernatural habit, is echoed in the lives of those who followed Him. In Acts 2:46, Jesus was so committed to ensuring His ministry lived on through others that they continued living out the disciplines He had modeled for them. By making an investment of His time in others day after day, Jesus modeled how supernatural habits transform lives.

Jesus’ commitment and discipline were driven by his ultimate love for us. Praying, healing, teaching, apprenticing, and transforming real people with real problems is an all in lifestyle that requires supernatural habits. Jesus was committed to His daily routines and His devotion never wavered.

Research shows that it takes anywhere between 21 and 66 days for something to become a habit. If you want to make a change, you have to make it a priority and devote time each day. After 66 days, that habit will become a routine part of your lifestyle.

Do you have an unhealthy habit that you need to break? How about a healthy habit you need to start, like prayer?

It’s not too late to start your own personal transformation. If you’re wanting to go all in this year, take that first step by setting new priorities and taking the next step to develop new habits. Invite God into the process and watch what He will do!

All In

"All In" comes from Acts 2:42-47, where the Holy Spirit fell on Jesus's disciples and transformed the hearts and lives of everyone present on the Day of Pentecost. Over the next month, these devotions and verses by Faith Promise pastors and staff will lay out God’s plan to mobilize us to bring about the next great move of God.
