 The Fall

I'm sure you can imagine that when it comes to being a skateboarder falling is something you can count on. I've spent countless hours of my life falling and failing so that I am able to grow and succeed in something new. I think that sometimes we as Christians want success but want to skip over the process. The book of James reminds us that if we can persevere under these trials and falls, we will receive the crown of life.

How many times have you fallen and you're quick to blame it on someone or something else? You start to question every choice you've made, you blame your spouse, you blame your friends, you begin to doubt yourself, and maybe you even begin to doubt God. The path you're comfortable with and the plans you have for your own life are quickly thrown out the window. We must be reminded that this life is not ours. We have to lay down our worldly desires at the feet of Jesus. We will often be in a situation where we are not yet allowed to see the next steps in the plan for our life and that's okay! We are given a perfect opportunity to follow Our Father into unseen circumstances. At first, you may be reluctant to dive all in and fully trust The Lord in a time where everything seems uncertain. I want to encourage you to place one foot in front of the other. Your process doesn't need to start in a full sprint but we cannot afford to become stagnant. There is a very specific purpose and plan for your life that Our God has chosen you for. You may feel depressed, insecure, doubtful, and maybe even abandoned, but remember God isn't finished with you.

Focus: Take that first step today! Place one foot in front of the other.
Replace your insecurities with prayer, doubt your doubts, declare war on depression, and rest in the truth and joy that Jesus will never abandon you.

The Joy In Falling

If you're reading this, chances are you are in a similar place I once was. You may not be an athlete with endorsements or sponsors. You're probably not waking up from an extensive ten hour and twenty minute knee surgery. However, there is a good chance someone or something has taken you away from a specific desire you have. You may be in a place where you feel The Lord has left you. You're feeling abandoned. You're feeling forgotten. You've fallen and you don't know how or if you can get back up. This devotional is meant to encourage, support, and help navigate you through the falls in life alongside our savior, Jesus. My hope is that you will obtain the tools to not only be prepared for the falls but to also receive the vision to see the joy in the them. Enjoy, -Dylan Harreld
