Exploring Thriving Through Ephesians

ДЗЕНЬ 12 З 14

Paul continues to flesh out our relationships in the context of mutual submission and loving as Christ loved. Kids, parents, fathers, slaves, masters, employers, and employees are all accountable to the Father for the ways that they treat each other.

I love that both masters and slaves are responsible for honoring and valuing each other. And this attitude of their minds is worked out in actions of respect.

This is certainly not the way that the world around us operates. Imagine the startling example of love this could be.

From his words in chapter 2 until now, Paul is working to show us how unity reflects the character of God. God is always at work tearing down walls, and bringing people together under the banner of his love. Only through the work of the Holy Spirit is this a possibility.

God works to tear down the wall between the Jews and the Gentiles. We are commanded to always be working towards unity, which is reflected in our love and mutual submission. He explains how this brings husbands and wives together. How slaves and masters can be under the same heavenly authority. It is completely counter to our culture. And it is completely essential to living a life that is worthy of what He's called us to.

When have you felt respected by someone and how did they show that?

What is a situation in your life right now that needs mutual submission and respect to bring unity? Spend some time praying for that.
