Insecurity: The Lies and the Truth of It.

يوم 2 من إجمالي 7

In the book of Joshua, we learn about a woman named Rahab. She was a prostitute in Jericho. When two Israelite spies came to her house and told her of God’s commands, she kept them safe and let them stay overnight. When the King of Jericho ordered her to hand them over, she lied to him and said they had already left, but secretly, she had hidden them on her roof.

Rahab feared the almighty God more than the King, so she lied to him and helped an invading army. The King of Jericho would not have expected a prostitute to outwit him and protect Israelite spies. Because prostitutes didn’t have a good reputation, they weren’t known to be trustworthy. They weren’t known to make wise decisions.

But she didn’t let her profession or her label of a prostitute define her. She wanted God's word to define her. She didn’t let other people’s opinions of her character and reputation get in the way of what she knew she had to do.

And through God's beautiful redemptive grace, she is mentioned again in Matthew 1 as being a part of the genealogy of JESUS.

When we allow God to define us, then we allow God to guide us. And then we can do BIG THINGS for the KINGDOM of Christ.

God wants to use us as a vessel, but when we focus on what we AREN’T, we leave less room for others to focus on who God IS.

Think about the labels that you’ve let define you. Now envision yourself pulling those labels off, ripping them up and throwing them into the trash. Doesn’t that feel good?

You are God’s work of art, his masterpiece. Today, allow that truth to define you.

Insecurity: The Lies and the Truth of It.

Why is it so easy to believe who we aren’t instead of who we are? We’ve accepted the lie that we are unworthy and not enough. We’ve gotten comfortable with being uncomfortable in our skin. It’s time to breakout of that trap and step into the truth: We are God's Masterpiece.
