Our souls are designed to thrive only through relationship. What is the relational model for a decade of becoming? We must begin by recovering our hidden life in God, the joyful intimacy available to us with the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit; from that hidden life, we move into an honest, heart-centered look at marriage, parenting, and our unique expression of family. Then we explore finding like-hearted kings living in the same direction with whom to sign treaties. Finally, we recover the model of looking to sages, older men whom we can ask for help and through whom we can experience the fathering heart of God.

1. If you had to draw a picture or a diagram representing a snapshot of relational categories in your life right now based on the true investment of time and energy, what would it look like?
2. Remember, the best apprenticeship is shaped by the questions. What are your questions, and who are you asking? 
3. How would you describe your friendships? What is in the way of their growing in courage, love, and authenticity?

Closing Prayer

Jesus, you provided the model for cultivating intimate relationships with a few like-hearted kings. You became the kind of person with whom others would desire to cultivate intimate friendship. I ask you to be my guide; fill me with all-surpassing power to know how to become that kind of person. Help me identify the men you would have me sign treaties with, sacrifice for, and make a priority in my prayers, my time, and my energy. I ask that you fiercely protect these relationships and guide me by my actions to set my heart and intentions on a path for these relationships to become deepening priorities in my life. Amen.
