A Minute For Mommyናሙና
Following the Leader
I am amazed by the influence Clay has on his little brother, Caleb. I have never seen anything like it. "Where's Clay?" or "want Clay," are popular phrases. If Clay wears blue jeans, Caleb wants to wear blue jeans. If Clay runs and then falls down, Caleb will run to the exact spot and fall down. One day, Clay accidentally dropped the ball he was playing with, so Caleb found a ball and dropped it. Caleb even knocked his cup over on purpose one day because Clay spilled his milk on accident. At the tender age of five Clay was already a leader and an example for Caleb, good or bad.
As I think about the role model Clay is for his little brother, I am reminded of the special individuals who have impacted me in amazing ways. At the top of the list is my family: my parents, my grandparents, and, of course, my husband. I am so thankful for the positive examples they set for me. I can only hope and pray Clay and Caleb will be a positive influence on each other and on the people close to them.
Just like Caleb looks up to his big brother and I look up to my family, God desires for his children to look up to him. God loves us so much. He provides so many wonderful examples for us to follow in his precious Word. In an effort to protect us and guide us, he never stops being the leader we should all strive to follow. We are so blessed.
I hope you will take a moment to reflect on the people who have impacted your life, past and present. Have you told them how much they mean to you and how thankful you are for them? How has God impacted your life? Have you praised him for all he has taught you and continues to teach you? Is God your top priority, and are you striving to follow his example?
Tell God how much you love him today. Thank him for being such a great role model. If you haven't been following God like you need to, confess that to him and start now. Just as Caleb walks around the house saying "I want Clay Binns." I hope you will spend time today saying, "I want Jesus." Let him be your leader today and for the rest of your life. God will not lead you astray.
