Day 3: Embracing God’s Peace in Your Work
Theme: Finding Rest Amidst Busy Schedules
Scripture: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
Devotional
As a Christian mom in business, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of managing both family and work responsibilities. The pressure to juggle it all—nurturing your children, meeting business deadlines, and maintaining a sense of personal well-being can feel overwhelming. But in the midst of all the activity, Jesus offers a powerful invitation: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28).
This promise is not just a call to physical rest, but to a deep, soul-refreshing peace. Jesus knows the challenges you face as a mom and a business owner. He knows the moments of exhaustion, the overwhelming tasks, and the constant demands. Yet, He invites you to come to Him for rest—not just when you’re physically tired, but when your heart and mind are weary.
In my own life, I’ve found that when I lean on God in the midst of my busiest days, I experience a peace that transcends understanding. There are times when everything seems chaotic—meetings, school pickups, laundry, and dinner prep—but when I stop to pray, even for just a few moments, I sense God’s peace in the midst of the storm. It’s in those moments of surrender that I am reminded that my worth is not tied to my productivity, and I can find rest in His presence.
God’s rest doesn’t mean the absence of work, but it does mean the absence of striving. It’s the kind of rest that allows you to work from a place of peace and trust, knowing that He is in control of every detail of your life. When you invite God into your business and family life, He will provide the peace that enables you to move forward with confidence and joy.
Remember, true rest is found in surrendering your burdens to God and trusting that He will provide the strength and peace you need. The busyness of life may not stop, but your heart can find rest in His promises.
Reflection Questions
- Are you carrying any burdens in your business or family life that need to be surrendered to God?
- How can you create space for God’s peace in the midst of your daily routine?
- Have you been seeking rest in external things (like vacations or productivity) rather than in God’s presence?
Action Step
Take a moment today to sit quietly and bring your burdens before God. Ask Him to fill you with His peace and to help you trust Him with the outcome of your work. Practice taking short breaks throughout the day to reconnect with God and ask for His strength and rest. Consider writing a list of areas where you can lean into His peace this week.
Devotional Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your invitation to come to You and find rest. I admit that I often carry heavy burdens in my business and family life, and I ask for Your peace to fill my heart. Help me to trust You in all areas of my life, knowing that I don’t have to strive on my own. Give me the strength to work from a place of peace, and remind me to take time each day to rest in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
