A Year in Luke/Actsናሙና

The Ascension might often be seen as quite a confusing event; what is going on here? Well, thinking about Jesus launching the Kingdom gives us some insights.

First, Jesus is returning to Heaven Victorious and to Rule. Second, the Spirit is going to be sent to empower humans to become Citizens of the Kingdom. Lastly, we see references to Daniel 7, when the Son of Man is received and exalted to the Highest Place of Honor.

So, the Ascension is the key piece after Jesus’ Death and Resurrection when He is Enthroned. Every kingdom needs a king and Jesus is now the Rightful King of the Universe, having won the battle of all battles in which death and evil are defeated but still exist as wounded and dangerous foes. It is up to the followers of Jesus to continue to bring the Kingdom to Earth as in Heaven.
