Get Up and Go

DAY 2 OF 3

The Call

The salvation of Jesus Christ that we received is incredibly transformational. Just as Jesus died on the cross, our old lives marked by sin and hopelessness died with Him too. And just as Jesus rose again on the third day, we are invited into a new life with a new identity and purpose. In Christ, we are a new creation that lives for and with God, and He invites us to be an active part of carrying out His miraculous work on earth. Sin no longer defines us, but it is God who declares what and who we are. Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are God’s handiwork, masterpiece, and workmanship and He created us in Jesus to do good works that He already prepared for us. As a result of our transformation in Jesus, God has given all of us callings and anointings to carry out good works for His Kingdom.

One of the good works God has prepared for all of His children is the call to share the good news of Jesus with all nations. God desires that all people would hear and accept the message of salvation and He invites every Christian to be the ones who proclaim it. In Matthew 28, Jesus commissions all of His followers to go into every nation and make disciples. Jesus does not suggest His followers do this, He commissions it. The first thing Jesus commands is that we go, meaning we have to leave where we are to reach the people in other places, cities, and nations. However, we are not alone in this. Jesus finishes His commission by promising that He will always be with us. Furthermore, He promises us the power of the Holy Spirit as witnesses of Christ. No matter where you go or what nations you reach, have peace knowing that the Christ you share is living within you and His Holy Spirit is there to empower you.

About this Plan

Get Up and Go

When someone calls you, you should respond and answer. In the same way, when God calls us, we need to respond to Him. While all believers in Christ Jesus have unique callings, we also share a calling to go and share the gospel of Christ with all people. The call of God over our lives requires movement on our part. This 3-day devotional explores the need, the call, and the response of all Christians.
